He hit .210 coming into the All-Star break, but hit .285 during the second half to raise his average to .245 on the season, with 12 home runs and 57 RBI.

With Joe Girardi's departure after the 2000 season, Posada is finally the Yankees full-time catcher

Hit .222 in the World Series with 1 RBI (which came in Game 2). Was the only Yankee starter without a hit in Game 3
JOHN M's Opinion: When you're part of a team that wins more games than any other in history and then the World Series, it makes for an impressive resume. However, Jorge is the Yankees second string catcher, behind the more experience Joe Girardi. Not to worry, however, this was only Jorge's second season. If he can keep his stats up, he should be able to split time behind the plate with Girardi (being a switch hitter can't hurt), getting himself a little bit more experience and a little bit more exposure.
TYPO's Opinion: I think that it probably was not a hard decision to pick between the veteran Joe Giradi and Jorge Posada, and I am sure that Giradi made it easier being the kind of guy that he is. Jorge has the job to himself now, and hasn't been doing too bad. He has had a couple of pit stops over at first base. I look farward to seeing him behind the plate for another year.
