met with team president Tom Schieffer and told him he had always
wanted to be a Texas Ranger, and wanted to finish his career with
the club. The deal was soon sealed.
-
Part of the deal was that Ivan would donate $500 000 to the Texas

JOHN M's
Opinion: Perhaps the last note is the most telling
about Rodriguez. While others seem to go on the DL several times
a year, "Pudge" is a fixture behind the plate with the Rangers.
Perhaps only Mike Piazza can challenge Rodriguez's claim to being
the best catcher in baseball. There are two kinds of catchers:
defensive catchers (the kind who can block wild pitches, cut down
on the passed balls, and throw out runners trying to steal) and
catchers who can hit. Rodriguez is one of those rarities who can do
both. If the Rangers are to become American League West Champions (as
they did in 1995), Rodriguez (as well as Juan Gonzales) will be a
big reason why. For all the money being tossed Rodriguez's way,
it is nice to see that he still has time for charities and still
knows the value of some motherly advice.
TYPO's
Opinion: I have to say that it is nice in
this day to see players spending their career with one team. It would
not be the Rangers without Pudge behind the plate. Personally I think
he covers both offense and defense, making him the best catcher on the present
MLB roster. What is it about these Latins? ;) He has it all,
defense, offense and speed too... I remember one of the MLB presenters once
commented on the resemblance between Mike Piazza and a pregnant woman when
running the bases!

Please note that I am not any of these players,
nor I am associated with any of them (I wish!!!). Just a fan like the
rest of you :) I would also like to thank everyone that has
emailed me regarding my pages, it is great hearing from other fans, and some
of you have been daft enough to stay in contact!
Of course the biggest thanks
for all goes to John for taking the time to
research and write
these pages, and really do all the work for me! I just take all the
credit... well unless he does it wrong! THANX
