It all began in Royal Berkshire, in 1966, the year England won the world cup! I popped into this world, November 27th, a bonnie, blonde, blue eyed baby! Okay I am not going to go into all the boring details of my life! That could put you to sleep for good! Lets just say that I have had a good few years which have included; working in Spain, marrying a Spaniard (sending him back to Spain three years later!), having a baby, travelling half way around the world (not all at once!), running a family business... I could go on but the rest is even more boring!
Lets face it most of you who are coming here probably already know a lot about me, if not you can just ask!
Milton Keynes is one of these man made towns, and an experiment I think! You can find out a bit more about it by checking out MKWeb - Milton Keynes' Home On The Net or Milton Keynes - The Links It is roundabout city! Built on a grid, the roads are all called "H#" or "V#". It gets very confusing for outsiders. They (whoever makes all the silly decision) have decided in their wisdom that his large town has a need for a ski dome, and a theatre which are at present causing chaos in the City Centre. I guess they are still building this place twenty year after they started. Milton Keynes only real claim to fame was that one of the Superman (Four I think) films was filmed here because of the futuristic look to the train station! Unless of course you wan t to include our conrete cows!! And yes they are real! Its good points are that it is not far from London, only an hour or less on the train, and for me it is the central point for all my friends, which means we usually meet at my house [g].
Years ago my brother and father had a business together. My father decided to retire and I was bought into the company. My brother invested in this great software package called "Compuserve". Well the rest is history! That was back in March 1994. I found the chat areas with the help of a penpal in June 1994 and have never looked back. Okay apart from the fact that in those days Compuspend (as we called it) was so expensive that the company eventually went bankrupt! I am sure the £300-400 monthly bills did not help the financial standing of the company!
It has all been worth it though because in these four years on line, in which I have moved from Compuserve, to Demon Internet [shiver.. never again], to AOL, Powernet (very good local provider recently expanded to Birmingham) and now the excellent The Net Effect, run by friends of mine, the friends that I have made on line have become my new family, and treat me like the spoilt little sister... [g] and I love it! Recently I have started using Freeserve, a totally no catch FREE internet provider, here in the UK. Bad luck you guys in the rest of the World! I personally have not had any major problems, only little clitches to my Microsoft programs, any experts out there please email! To meet some of my friends check out the Gallery and the Pals pages.
It has been over almost five years since I found on-line life, there is a lot of fun to be had out there, and also a lot of pitfalls to be wary of. I think you learn by your mistakes, I did after the first few months. Don't let those few weird people stop you making friends, I have made a bundle and now thankfully have lots of cheap places to stay in America! Problem is I spent all my money being on line [lol]...I just need to win the lottery to be able to fly out there.. always a draw back!
These days time if a factor in everything, and my daughter takes up a lot of it. So I generally surf the net, and live in email land. If you have ICQ you can locate me on there it runs automatically when I log on, and of course there is the faithful email that keeps me in touch with everyone.
